You can go out as far as the eye can see to get pictures in the lake.er.salt flats. The flats are covered in water where I went, but it doesn't get deep. It was full of tourists stopping by to take strange pictures. Not that Salt Lake, but a salty lake nonetheless. The main difference as to where the GPS took me was that there was water in that part. You can step out and take pictures anywhere, really. For several miles leading up to that GPS stop, the Salt Flats are there. When you type the location into the GPS, it takes you to the Bonneville Salt Flats rest stop. It's about a 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City is all, however. The scenery is rather dull and never-ending. So, living so close, I decided to take a trip there one free afternoon to see what all the hubbub was about.
